I feel as if my experience with Youth Media Project will help me gain a more confident voice this summer. I know what it's like to always be cut off in the middle of a sentence or not being able to have people that understand I need a bit more time to carefully get out my words because of my anxiety and stuttering.

I want to reach out to the community of youth that goes unnoticed like the average kids who just so happen to live in bad situations. They may not feel as if their words or contributions to their community do not mean anything because they are not exceedingly gifted or a trouble maker.I want to prove them otherwise. It frustrates me that media sticks a stereotype on a group an individuals because where they are from and leave it at that.

I want it to be my mission this summer to take notice to the kids who are not the best nor the worst, but who are right in the middle yet unseen.I'm hoping to learn effective ways to find these lost stories and to capture beautiful moments of this via camera.

With learning these skills, I can go to college more knowledgeable and more confident in my own voice to help others.
